Supreme Court starts own probe of DLSU blast

MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court (SC) is set to begin today its investigation into the explosion that marred the conclusion of this year’s Bar exams in Manila last Sunday and injured close to 50 persons, mostly law students from San Beda College.

The eight-man committee, chaired by Associate Justice Martin Villarama Jr., will meet at 10 a.m. to review initial reports of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Manila Police District (MPD) on the incident and decide who would be invited for questioning, according to SC spokesman Jose Midas Marquez.

Associate Justice Jose Mendoza will serve as vice chair of SC probe committee. The other members are Ma. Cristina Layusa, deputy clerk of court and bar confidant; Dean Perry Pe, chair of Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS); and Charlotte Silungan, vice president of NCR chapter of the Association of Law Students of the Philippines.
